Hi, I have a dear friend who has two boys with differing conditions, the eldest has ADHD + OCD the youngest has Autism/ Aspergers syndrome. I will pass on this link to her today, what a wonderful idea to be able to discuss matters of this kind. Thank you for posting this invitation for other good mums to share in.

Your boys are quite a bit older than Nieve who is four. She only understand nouns at the moment, concrete words for house, car etc but no in between words yet. She is amazingly outgoing for an autistic when around the people she is used to but very apprehensive of strangers and large groups. She can be quite loud as well shouting or whining all the time rather than speaking but I know it's her frustration in not being able to articulate her needs. She is at a normal infant school in the first year which she seems to love as the children in her class have really warmed to her odd ways. She can appear quite comical with her outbursts and gets away with much more compared to other children. The teachers seem to be having a hard time controlling her outbursts. The school seems to have cut us off with no regular communication, so as much as we want to help them understand her they don't seem to want our help. She does have a one to one but we never get to see her either. Very frustrating. The boys photos are very good. It's not uncommon to find many of the brains in silicon valley where all the top computer experts being autisic or asperger. I'm a computer programmer myself and have bouts of living in my own world so perhaps it's a family thing too. I don't see the condition as negative just a different way of being.

The only reason we got a diagnosis so early was because she was born in intensive care due to lack of oxygen at birth so the doctor told us she may never be normal. We put pressure on everybody early as we noticed differences that perhaps would have got missed had she been born normally.
That is my concern that the older she gets the children willl see her a freak. I know other parents that took their children out of mainstream once this happened. We will keep a close eye on it.

Your sons photography is really beautiful, astounding. Good eye he has too. He's just gotta keep going. Sort him out a website that is what I would do! I would very much like to see more of his work.

Does he use a digital camera? I take it that it is. It is the composition he has which makes his pics tick.

Those photos are brilliant!!! my son has aspergers.Callum is 10 and is into Dinosaurs he writes his own little books on them which are brill.He also writes poetry some of his works are way above his age,as with your sons he is very special indeed.

I think it just goes to show how completely out of touch these school authorities actually are and clearly do not appear to comprehend how a person with such a condition even thinks.

A very dear friend of ours who's child had attention deficit and aspergers combined was found to have a profound interest which materialized first of all in house details from estate agents and he went around collecting thousands of them which took over his room!
At times he would get out of control of himself and would have to have some help with it.
Then after a couple of years of that he went on to pester some agents into actually applying for house visits and would actually go round them with agents!! This ended up with him having an incredible eye for both house value and condition and could tell in seconds what the street value was of any road in the city and also any house he saw! That was I understand because he was encouraged with positive formation and enormous patience and a degree of will in his own interest.
I understand he moved eventually and now lives on his own in a flat but I do not know what he is actually doing in life. He is coping though. Just wanted to say really that there can be answers in helping if in just finding the right button to push that allows that person to blossom as it did for him eventually but it took a lot of tears along the way. Stepping outside the boundaries of what we perceive is to my mind, the first step in helping them cope with and creating pathways to change for them. Don't forget, without children of this nature, most of the advances in the mechanics of thought of being creative in bringing new ideas to civilization are created through beings with similar traits.
Initially he was Rudolph Steiner educated and had a holistic GP.

Looking back did he have the classic traits of autism? How did he cope through school not having a lable on him? Do you think it's better going through school with your peers knowing you are different in some way? I guess it can be tough if you are different and other kids don't know why.
